Relationship between Cerebrovascular Disease and Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is an important risk factor for cerebrovascular disease. Epidemiological studies have shown that diabetes is an independent risk factor for ischemic stroke in European and American countries with high prevalence of diabetes.
In recent years, the relationship between cerebrovascular disease and diabetes mellitus has attracted great attention from scholars.
Clinical statistics show that half of the patients with cerebral hemorrhage have elevated blood sugar, and more patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease suffer from diabetes. Diabetes mellitus is one of the basic diseases of cerebrovascular disease.
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease of the body. It is a disorder of metabolism of sugar, fat and protein caused by absolute or relative insufficiency of insulin secretion. Among them, the major relation with cerebrovascular disease is the disorder of fat metabolism.
Due to the decrease in the utilization of sugar in diabetes mellitus, fat is largely decomposed into triglycerides and free fatty acids under the condition of energy shortage, which increases various fat components in blood, especially triglycerides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, among which the concentration of triglycerides is 4-6 times higher than the normal level.
A large amount of fat in the blood precipitated on the blood vessel wall, which can cause the hardening of the major arteries and the hyaline degeneration of the small arteries. About half of diabetic patients suffer from arteriosclerosis, and coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease and kidney disease caused by arteriosclerosis increase greatly.
Hypertension caused by arteriosclerosis becomes the pathological basis of cerebrovascular rupture under certain conditions. The narrowing of the lumen and the decrease of circulating blood volume caused by cerebral arteriosclerosis can develop into ischemic cerebrovascular diseases such as cerebral ischemia and cerebral embolism in a certain time.
Various vascular diseases complicated by diabetes, including cerebrovascular diseases, are one of the main causes of death in diabetic patients at present. Although the disease of cerebrovascular is not parallel to the severity of diabetes, its incidence is closely related to the duration of diabetes, sooner or later to start treatment, and the quality of the curative effect.
